Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science to understanding behavior and has become a widely accepted and effective treatment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities.
ABA focuses on improving socially significant behaviors (i.e., anything important) to a meaningful degree and relies on assessment, individualized instruction, and structured teaching programs in order to measure behavior change.
Bliss ABA will create a treatment plan in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team that is specific to your child's needs and collaborate with family to utilize effective strategies that promote successful behavior change.
ASSESSMENT: This includes things like an interview with the parents and direct observation of the child.
PLAN: Based on assessment, goals are targeted (skills that the child does not yet demonstrate that are socially significant and appropriate for age).
INTERVENTION: Instruction initially emphasizes teaching a child how to learn (listen, watch, imitate) and builds on these skills. Guidance is systematically reduced so that the child is responding independently.
DATA-BASED: Recording child behavior is essential to SEE that the program is effective. It informs procedures and helps overcome any obstacles that may arise.
COLLABORATION: Parents are provided regular progress of child goals and continue to collaborate on next steps.
